  • Creating Locus – A Custom Gutenberg Theme

Even before I got my own first computer in 2004, my fascination with web design had already taken hold. I vividly remember sitting at my sister’s PC, using pirated versions of Photoshop, piecing together layouts and slicing them into PNGs to achieve custom fonts and rounded borders. Those early experiences became the foundation of my expertise in HTML and CSS—a knowledge that has endured despite the ever-evolving world of technology.

Since then the technologies has changed immensely, however the knowledge I gathered is still relevant.

I have worked several years as a PM but even then I created websites in my free time. Also, when I was traveling for half a year through south-east Asia I was working on my custom CSS framework. The framework never got finished and released, because life got in the way.

Now, I am giving it another try. This time, I am building not only a custom CSS framework though, but a custom WordPress Gutenberg Theme.

The goal is to create a theme with beautiful design that can be used for multiple purposes. I want to include a design system that’s easy to use and understand. I want to create pattern library to quick start any projects. An inspiration is https://olliewp.com/

All the functions and features of native Gutenberg should be leveraged.

Also, I am dreaming about a PRO version to get some income – but let’s get the first versions released first.

I’ll post updates and thoughts on my blog here.
